CAP Final Text

You would think that with my final text for my Community Arts Project due on Thursday, I would be filled with artistic insight. Unfortunately, I am not full of that. I have, however, worked on this text, which I hope meets all of the criteria. Since I did not have this layout for my four years (CODA wasn't even in existence my Freshman year), I am playing "catch up" in some ways. The various steps are well laid out. Each student must submit proposals, copies of letters to be sent to partnering institutions, budget proposals, and other things. I hope that this text will provide a template for future students who enter this program.

I suppose this process, more than providing artistic inspiration, has given me the opportunity to reflect on my experience of CODA and my role in it. I will continue to ponder these thoughts for later posts toward the end of the semester. As it stands now, though, it appears like the organization I've helped create, Standing Room Only, will be the lasting part of my experience of Rhodes that will benefit future students. Part of my CAP text requires an outline for sustainability, and in this I feel supremely confident. I know that the members of my team believe in this project and will continue working to make it better. They have been such an amazing addition to this project, that I am hesitant to say that I would even consider it "my" project. It has truly been an experience of teamwork. Knowing that this project will continue to influence the artistic community of Rhodes makes me feel like I have really contributed something to this place.

hi,

your use of the word innovation was grammatically incorrect, both times you used it... you should've said "innovative" in both cases.

Moreover, as someone who likes to see electronic music performed live (usually without live instrumentation) I must comment that the human element can still be quite present and powerful regardless of the technology being used to achieve the sound. A good DJ will "read" the crowd and play his/her instrument(s) (computer, turntables, mpc etc.) accordingly.
There was a Kraftwerk concert which they performed simultaneously in various cities... they had robots on stage that performed/mimed the act of playing the music, which was pre-selected and recorded.

I think the argument you're making is interesting, and may become more prevalent as our love of technology and machines continues to grow, nevertheless a Kronos performance is an extremely organic experience (a modern and slightly modified one albeit).

In addition, unless you are listening to your CDs in a state of the art theater, I believe that the sound quality in a club, or a theater is slightly higher than the sound quality you can achieve in your house.
